The City of Roseville, Roseville Rotary, and Eureka Recycling partnered to make the event that draws thousands of people a Zero Waste Event. One example of this is the Taste of Rosefest. The finished compost is used for landscaping, erosion control other similar projects. Industrial composting facilities are able to handle many materials that can’t go in your backyard compost. It is collected along with paper cups, food waste, paper towels and other organic materials and taken to an industrial composting facility to biodegrade. The events use special biodegradable cutlery made from cornstarch. In addition to traditional bottle and can recycling, the Zero Waste events collect organic material for composting.
